WAYNESBORO—What do you get when you take an empty storefront and mix it with a heaping decade of cooking experience and a pound of passion for the community?

You get the Crispy Biscuit Diner & Ice Cream.

The restaurant opened today, Nov. 10, in the first block of West Main Street.

“We want to provide a place for families and children to go that’s safe and enjoyable,” said Brittany West, who started the business with her husband, Tyler. “I love the downtown vibe.”

The Crispy Biscuit offers a fun ‘50s vibe in the site of the former Warners Old-Fashioned Soda Shoppe.

The menu includes sandwiches, subs, soups and ice cream, plus breakfast all day, including breakfast sandwiches, homemade creamed chipped beef, sausage gravy and more.

“We wouldn’t be the Crispy Biscuit without biscuits,” said Amy Stewart, front manager and head server.

Other menu items will be added soon, including homefries, burgers and fries.

This isn’t the first business West, 32, has opened in downtown Waynesboro. She and Tyler also own Three Oaks Primitives & Boutique—all while raising four children ages 4 months to 12.

It’s that family focus that inspired West to include events on the menu: A Youth Game Night for kids in grades 5-8 will be held Friday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m., and an Adult Karaoke Night will be held Wed., Nov. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m., in partnership with Rough Edges Brewing.

The Crispy Biscuit Diner & Ice Cream, 88 W. Main St., is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

“We’re really excited,” Stewart said.
