Shepherd men’s basketball team downs Lincoln University

FROSTBURG, Md.  – Sophomore guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) scored a game-high 26 points and senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) tossed in 20 to lead Shepherd University (3-1) to 78-74 win over Lincoln University (2-2) in recent men’s basketball action at Frostburg State. 

McClain-Corley connected on 9 of 12 field goals with a 3 of 5 effort from three-point range. He connected on all five free throw attempts. 

Junior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. 

Shepherd connected on 51.9 percent (27-52) of its shots from the floor with a 29.4 percent (5-17) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 63.3 percent (19-30) of their free throws. 

The Rams return to action on Sunday, Nov 28, when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 1 p.m. contest.

Shepherd women’s basketball team remains unbeaten with win over Lincoln

OXFORD, WV – Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgely, W.Va./Frankfort) had 23 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists to lead Shepherd University (4-0) to a 65-47 win over Lincoln University (0-2) in women’s basketball action at Lincoln. 

Beeman hit on 9 of 14 field goals with a 5 of 7 effort from three-point range. 

Graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John’s) added 21 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) tossed in 17 points. 

Bryanna Brown led the Lincoln Lions with 16 points. Kryshell Gordy added 10 points and 10 rebounds 

Shepherd shot 48.1 percent (25-52) from the floor with a 55.6 percent effort (5-9) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 90.9 percent (10-11) of their free throws.
