COLLEGE SPORTS: Shepherd men’s basketball team wins fourth straight game

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.  – Sophomore guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) scored 16 points and senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead Shepherd University (4-1) to 61-39 win over West Virginia Wesleyan (1-5) in men’s basketball action Sunday. 
McClain-Corley connected on 7-of-13 field goals with a 2-of-6 effort from three-point range. He also added seven rebounds and four assists.
Senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) had eight points, nine rebounds, and a game-high six assists. Junior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) contributed six points, seven rebounds, and a pair of assists. 
Jayden Hibbitt led the Bobcats with 16 points. Braeden McGrew added eight points and a team-high six boards.
Shepherd had a 33-20 lead at the break behind 12 first-half points from McClain-Corley. 
Shepherd connected on 45.3 percent (24-53) from the floor with a 32 percent (8-25) performance from beyond the three-point arc. The Rams hit 71.4 percent (5-7) of their free throws.
West Virginia Wesleyan shot 29.8 percent (17-57) from the floor with a 21.7 percent effort (5-23) from three-point range. The Bobcats did not attempt a free throw. 
Shepherd had a 41-28 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced nine turnovers and committed 11. Shepherd had three steals while West Virginia Wesleyan had seven. 
The Rams return to action Friday when they host Gannon at 7:30 p.m.
