CHAMBERSBURG—The 2021 Franklin County Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament held in September at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville raised a record $23,802 to benefit programs and other services for area veterans, according to Franklin County Commissioners and Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs.

The 5th annual event featured an event-high 196 golfers along with prize drawings, raffles and in-tournament competitions for participants.

Proceeds from the outing will directly support Veterans Affairs programs – including Operation Save-A-Vet, Save-A-Pet and Operation Rucks to Reins –  which are funded solely through community donations.

In addition to announcing the results of the 2021 tournament, the commissioners recognized Penn National co-owner Patti Nitterhouse, Penn National golf professional Darin Peart, and tournament sponsor Kristin Shelter of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices for their leadership and philanthropy, which proved to be instrumental in the success of this year’s outing.

For more information on the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs and available services, call 717-263-4326 or visit www.franklincountypa.gov.
