ELIZABETHTOWN–The Waynesboro varsity wrestling team, coming off a 4-1 showing at the Elizabethtown Duals last week, competed in meets on back-to-back nights.

The Indians hosted Chambersburg, which went away with a 37-27 victory on Wednesday. On Thursday, Waynesboro defeated Greencastle-Antrim, 54-9 in Greencastle.

The Tribe received eight forfeits against the Blue Devils en route to the lopsided win.

Greencastle won three of the four contested bouts. Waynesboro’s Bodie Rouzer recorded a fall in 3:25 after building a 16-3 lead. The senior 138-pounder earned eight points off takedowns, five on a pair of near falls and another two points on a reversal.

Against Chambersburg, Waynesboro’s James Crutchfield gave the Indians a 6-0 lead when he registered a pin in 33 seconds in the 160-pound match. Crutchfield’s fall followed a takedown and two-point near fall.

The Trojans reeled off five straight pins to take a 30-6 lead heading into the 120-pound bout. Chambersburg came away with a regular decision and a major decision in the next two contests to build on the lead at 37-6.

Waynesboro’s Garrett Price (132), Bodie Rouzer (138) and Kaden Rouzer (145) each collected pins to make the score 37-24.

Price took 1:17 to record a pin, while Bodie Rouzer got his pin in 35 seconds and Kaden Rouzer needed just 46 seconds to close out his match.

Waynesboro’s Robert Howard outpointed his 152-pound opponent, 9-3, to close out the meet. Howard used a five-point move in the third period to extend the lead from 5-3 to 9-3.

Waynesboro is off until next Wednesday when the Indians will host South Western in a non-league matchup. The next night will see Waynesboro travel to Boiling Springs to face the Bubblers in a Mid-Penn Colonial Division contest.
