GREENCASTLE – The Waynesboro Area Senior High School varsity boys’ basketball team defeated Greencastle-Antrim for the third time this season, this time on the road.

Waynesboro broke open a close game after halftime and went on to notch a 69-46 victory on Tuesday night in a Mid-Penn Colonial Division contest.

The Indians (15-3) beat the Blue Devils 61-28 in the Franklin County Tipoff Tournament consolation game on Dec. 11. Waynesboro added a 52-23 win on Jan. 7.

Waynesboro, which improved to 12-1 in the league and prepares for a showdown with Shippensburg at home on Friday, led 21-6 at halftime but was outscored 24-14 in the second period for a 35-30 halftime lead.

The second half was a different story, as the Tribe won the third quarter 19-9 and outpointed Greencastle-Antrim 15-7 in the fourth quarter to prevent a Blue Devils comeback.

Reese Cover enjoyed a singular performance, scoring a team-high 22 points. He also had three assists, seven rebounds and five blocked shots in the game.

Jaylon Bean scored 12 points, while Ryan Shaffer finished with 10 points. Bean added three assists and nine rebounds. Shaffer recorded three steals.

Shippensburg, undefeated in league play at 11-0, handed Waynesboro its only league loss, a 63-54 outcome on Jan. 22 in Shippensburg. The Greyhounds enter Friday’s rematch with an undefeated Colonial Division record.
