The Waynesboro Indians varsity basketball team finished the regular season as the eighth-ranked team in District 3-6A.

The power ratings were made official on Sunday, along with the official pairings for the playoffs. The postseason begins Tuesday, Feb. 22. The top four seeded teams receive byes into the quarterfinals.

Quarterfinal losers will play in the consolation bracket. The top seven of 12 teams advance to the PIAA Championships.

Waynesboro (17-4) will host Berks County League’s Wilson (14-7) at 7 p.m. on the 22nd.

Wilson, who played top-seeded 6A Reading (18-3) earlier in the season (a 64-36 loss), ended the season by winning 10 of its final 12 games. The Indians and Bulldogs did not play a common opponent.

Waynesboro earned a share of the Mid-Penn Colonial Division with Shippensburg, thanks in part to a 60-50 victory on Feb. 4. The Tribe, which hosted its first ever district playoff game during the 2018-19 season, lost twice during the season to Chambersburg (16-5), which drew the sixth seed in 6A.

Waynesboro lost to Cumberland Valley, 55-52, in the Indians most recent trip to the postseason. The Eagles (18-4) are the second seed in this year’s tournament. The Tribe also won 17 games that season.

The winner of Waynesboro-Wilson will face top-seed Reading on Friday, Feb. 25 at the higher seeded team.

Chambersburg will host Red Lion (17-5) in a first-round game. The winner will travel to Harrisburg to play third-seed Central Dauphin (15-4).

Other teams from the Mid-Penn Colonial Division competing in the playoffs are Shippensburg, Big Spring and Boiling Springs. Shippensburg is seeded third in Class 5A, while Big Spring drew the 15th seed in the 16-team 5A field. Boiling Springs is seventh seed in the 10-team Class 4A tournament.
