CHAMBERSBURG — Franklin County Sheriff Dane Anthony is urging Franklin County residents to do their part in helping fight crime in their communities.

“My office is committed to making our neighborhoods safer places to live,” said Anthony. “By doing so, we will improve the quality of life for individuals and families, both young and old. It is imperative that we seek progress to reduce the negative influences that crime has on our county.”

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office works diligently to make significant improvements throughout the county. Staff members frequently participate in a variety of professional training opportunities that cover a range of subjects, from courtroom security and deputy-involved shootings to weapons of mass destruction and methamphetamine lab awareness as well as other topics critical to providing quality law enforcement protection.

Franklin County residents can also impact the department’s work in their communities by joining the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association’s Honorary Membership Program. The Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association helps support the state’s 67 county sheriffs departments with high-quality, statewide training and education. Its Honorary Membership Programs provides citizens and businesses an opportunity to show their commitment to making their communities safer places to live, work and raise families.

“The Honorary Membership Program is based on the premise that citizens and law enforcement officers can collaborate to have a direct impact in our communities. Through membership, citizens can help in a very practical way,” said Anthony. “I invite businesses and individuals alike to support our efforts by becoming members. Through your participation in this program, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office can continue to provide the resources necessary to make a difference.”

For more information on the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association’s Honorary Membership Program, visit www.pasheriffs.org, call 877-236-7335 or contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The Honorary Membership Program also distributes membership invitations to residents by mail. The organization is committed to a non-telemarketing policy and does not solicit membership by phone.
