YMCA swim team makes waves at York meet

YORK—Members of the Waynesboro Area YMCA Waves swim team returned home from a York meet with something to splash about.

Seventy YMCA teams from around the state completed in the 2022 Pennsylvania YMCA State Meet. Six swimmers from the Waynesboro Waves qualified at districts to swim in this meet. Twelve-year-old Mady Barker placed 1st overall in the 1650 Yard Free, and 3rd in the 500 Yard Free. Ruth Phillips, 12, placed second and third in two of her events, while JB Bonner, 14, placed fourth overall in one of his events.

The final results are as follows (in alphabetical order):

•Maddy Barker: 1st Place 1650 Yard Free 19:25.68; 3rd Place 500 Yard Free 5:41.02; 5th Place 200 Yard Free 2:08.36; 9th Place 200 Yard I.M. 2:30.42; 12th Place 200 Yard Back 2:25.80

•JB Bonner: 4th Place 1000 Yard Free 10:52.03; 12th Place 200 Yard Back 2:11.67; 16th Place 500 Yard Free 5:21.18

•Crosby Grigg, 9: 13th Place 200 Yard I.M. 3:08.63; 14th Place 100 Yard Breast 1:35.76

•Eli Harsh, 12): 12th Place 500 Yard Free 5:55.68

•Ruth Phillips: 2nd Place 100 Yard Fly 1:03.89; 3rd Place 50 Yard Fly 28.90; 8th Place 50 Yard Free 26.84; 11th Place 100 Yard Free 59.92

•Will Yost, 12: 13th Place 500 Yard Free 5:59.28
