Vaccine Clinic Coming to Caledonia

FAYETTEVILLE—The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has announced it is partnering with the Department of Health to help expand access to the COVID-19 vaccine at three state parks this summer, including Caledonia.

“DCNR is proud to again partner with the Department of Health to provide these opportunities to help raise Pennsylvania’s vaccination and boosted rate,” said DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn. “The outdoors have been critical in helping Pennsylvanians maintain their physical and mental health during the pandemic. These vaccine clinics are yet another way we can help people through these unprecedented times.”

The COVID-19 vaccine clinic will take place at Caledonia State Park, 101 Pine Grove Road, Fayetteville, on Sunday, Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Department of Health works to ensure that all eligible Pennsylvanians have access to COVID-19 vaccines including the recently approved pre-school pediatric vaccine. With parental consent, children ages 6 months through 5 years old can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at pediatrician offices, health centers, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers – and now these three state parks this summer. In addition to the availability of that vaccine, these clinics will offer the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine.

“These vaccines are a safe and effective way to protect ourselves and now some of our youngest Pennsylvanians,” Acting Secretary of Health and Pennsylvania Physician General Dr. Denise Johnson said. “If you are not up to date on your COVID-19 vaccinations, I encourage you to take advantage of the free COVID-19 vaccination being offered at these state parks.”

Individuals can also receive their second shot of the primary series or the booster dose they are eligible for of their respective vaccine type at these state park clinics. For those who receive their first shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, second dose appointments will be scheduled at the State Health Center closest to where the recipient lives or by visiting www.vaccines.gov.

There is no cost to get the vaccine at one of the clinics. Individuals should bring their vaccination card with them if they are receiving the remainder of the primary series or a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccination. Those seeking the vaccine should be prepared to answer health related questions and must sign a consent form to receive the vaccine.

Those with questions about the vaccine clinics are urged to contact the state park hosting the clinic for more information. If there are questions related to the vaccine, individuals can call the Department of Health at 1-877-PA-HEALTH (1-877-724-3258).

In addition to these vaccine clinics, Pennsylvanians can find a COVID-19 vaccine provider by visiting vaccines.gov.
