HAGERSTOWN, MD – Those who enjoy a good old-fashioned treasure hunt might just find what they are looking for at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts’ annual Treasure Sale in November.

The popular fundraiser returns in-person at the museum for the first time in two years. Shoppers can peruse a plethora of donated items such as furniture, artwork, collectibles, glassware, jewelry and more.

Organized and hosted by the Singer Society, the museum’s volunteer organization, the Treasure Sale will be Friday, November 4, through Sunday, November 6, and Tuesday, November 8, in the museum’s atrium.

The event kicks off Friday with a Preview Party from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission costs $30. Although there will be celebratory food and cocktails, the main appeal of the preview is the opportunity to purchase items before the sale opens to the public on Saturday. Registration is required for the Friday preview. Deadline is Friday, October 28.

As a special bonus on Friday night, patrons have a chance to win a beautiful watercolor by the late R. Benjamin Jones, a locally renowned artist. His irresistible portrait of a cow, “Brown Swiss,” is the Friday night raffle prize. Raffle tickets cost $10 each. They are available at wcmfa.org and during the Preview Party until 7 p.m. You don’t need to be present to win.

Admission is free for the rest of the Treasure Sale. Hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., which includes the popular fill a bag for $25; and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m., with fill a bag for $15. (Bags are provided at the sale.)

The event attracts hundreds of buyers over the weekend with all proceeds benefitting the museum’s education department, which serves thousands of local youths annually through school field trips, classes, and beloved free community programs such as the Saturday Morning Youth Art Program.

To purchase tickets for the Friday preview event, go to https://wcmfa.org/treasure-sale, or contact Donna Rastelli at 301-739-5727 or drastelli@wcmfa.org.

The Treasure Sale accepts cash and all major credit cards.
