What can be accomplished in two and a half minutes?

Not a whole lot, unless you are Chambersburg Jr. High wrestling heavyweight Frank Barrientos, who needed a total of just 2:33 to pin five different opponents at last weekend’s Connellsville Duals. With Barrientos leading the way, the Trojans went 3-2 with wins over Ringgold (54-27), North Allegheny (51-28), and State College (42-38), and losses to Altoona (42-39) and Connellsville (66-16).

Barrientos got the tournament’s award for most falls in the least amount of time, with his pin times of 1:11, 0:36, 0:15, 0:12, and 0:19 all adding up to less than one full match of actual mat time.

Barrientos was Chambersburg’s lone undefeated wrestler, while Jake Brambley, Isaiah Tasker, and Dominic Cherry all went 4-1 with two falls apiece. The Trojans got 3-2 performances from Demetry Benner, Gabe Nolan (2 falls, 1 major decision), Justin Deneen (2 falls), and Omar Hanchey (1 fall). Other competing Chambersburg wrestlers include Cody Seabolt (2-3), Jessica Li (0-5), Nathan Chambers (1-4, 1 fall), Caleb Swartz (2-3, 1 fall), Loudon Jones (0-5), Colton Horst (1-4, 1 fall), Jett Rugh (1-0, 1 fall), Leonidas Moore (1-1), and Alex Lozius (0-1).

One weekend prior to Barrientos and Co. wreaking havoc in Connellsville, another Franklin County team was making noise at the Lebanon Cedars Youth Tournament. Waynesboro’s youth program took 13 wrestlers to Lebanon and returned home with two champions: Freedom Young and Ace Beltz.

Below is a wrestler-by-wrestler look at how Waynesboro’s youth squad performed in Lebanon:
