SNIFF NOTES: Cabin Fever Music Fest returns!

It’s back! I am so excited that this is back.

We’re putting COVID and all it did to our fundraisers in the rearview mirror and the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter is hosting our Cabin Fever Music Fest for the first time in two years!

The Cabin Fever Music Fest will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Orchards Restaurant in Chambersburg and it is so. Much. Fun.

I am always amazed and thrilled at the talent we have in this community.

Local musicians agree to put on a concert for the animals and they are the best. The sounds and harmonies they are able to produce soothe my tired soul. I mean it. I could listen to these folks forever.

The event is sponsored by the VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg – and they are some spectacular animal-lovers.

Our performers include Soleil, Jill Fulton Band, the Negley Brothers, Kin Selection and Cameron Malloy Band.

If you’re looking for a chance to have a cool night of toe-tapping and shoulder swaying entertainment, mark your calendars for this one. These people are awesome!

They play some of their original songs, but they also do covers. Trust me, you’ll recognize them.

So, let’s talk time. The doors will open at 4 p.m. and the music will start at 5. With the way we have the entertainment scheduled, we’re thinking the show will end sometime after 9. We want to give all our performers a decent amount of time to show their talents.

Also, it’s definitely worth mentioning that every single one of these people are donating their time. In fact, the Orchards is donating the room and the sound guys are donating their equipment and time. They all just want to help the animals, so every bit of the ticket price is going right back to helping the thousands of animals that come through the doors of the shelter every year.

I can’t tell you how many times the performers say on the mic how happy they are to support the animals with this event. A couple of them have adopted from us and love to show pictures of their four-legged babies!

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and can be purchased at the shelter on Letterkenny Road West or our thrift store at 66 S. Main St. in Chambersburg.

If you would like to reserve a table, you may do so, but the tickets must all be purchased at the same time. A table holds eight people, so if you can gather some friends for a fun night out, please make sure you either collect all the money before going to purchase the tickets or one person pay for the group and get the money back from your friends.

A cash bar and the full menu at the Orchards will be available and if you haven’t eaten there yet, plan to come hungry. They have this crab and asparagus in a vodka sauce with pasta and it…I don’t have adequate words to describe how amazing it is. Seriously. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

This will be an over 21 crowd because of the bar, so think about making it a date night and give the babysitter a call.

I’d also like to thank the Marine Corps League of Chambersburg, F&M Trust and Little Daisy’s Closet for their sponsorships as well as Forrester Farm Equipment and Factory Direct Carpets.

One of the reasons I love this event is because it gives us a chance to really showcase the talent we have in this community, but the bigger reason is that these folks really are amazingly caring people. They all love animals and they want to help and they love to sing, so this just makes sense.

I hope you can join us for a great night of music and fundraising for our four-legged friends at our Cabin Fever Music Fest on Feb. 25 at the Orchards.
