GREENCASTLE- Joy El has named a new Board of Directors for 2023.

The board is led by David W. Matthews, Jr., who brings with him experience from his former service as Executive Director of the Chambersburg YMCA.
“As the Joy El Board enters 2023, we come with very grateful and thankful hearts and with great hope for the future of Joy El,” Matthews said. “During the past year, there were many blessings from the successful safe summer camping programs; to numerous young people beginning relationships with Jesus Christ; to the dedication of the Gregg Garman Welcome Center and celebration of the refurbishment and expansion of the dining room facilities.

“We are also very thankful for all the individuals and corporations who have given so generously to the Igniting Hope in generations that seek Him capital campaign. We are looking forward to the conclusion of Phase III of the capital campaign, which will result in the completion of the Shepherds Lodge in May of this year.”

The vice chair will be Penny Marks of Zullinger. Marks is a retired Spanish teacher from Greencastle School District.

Craig Witmer, member of SEK LLC, will continue as treasurer. His firm operates out of Chambersburg where he leads the governmental audit practice.

Scott Gruver will be serving as secretary of the board. Gruver is a Sr Manufacturing Engineer at TE Connectivity.

Joy El’s 2023 board has been joined by three new members: Penny Marks, previously mentioned; Kevin Swope, VP of Sales at CDS-Central Penn; and Nathaniel Knoll, Lead pastor at New Franklin Assembly of God Church in Chambersburg.

Other members of the board are J. Todd Streett, financial advisor with Edward Jones in Greencastle; Curtis Martin, high school learning support teacher with the Greencastle-Antrim School District; Clayton Black, owner of Keystone Ford in Chambersburg; Suzette Grazette, Treasury Analyst at Fiserv in Hagerstown, MD; Lawrence Rife IV Esq, and attorney at Hoskinson Wenger and Rife Law Offices in Chambersburg; and Thomas McDowell, Certified Welding Inspector & NDT Technician with Hillis Carnes Engineering Associates of Williamsport, Maryland.

“An excellent Board is key to the success of every non-profit organization,” said Joy El CEO Aaron E. Ziebarth. “Joy El has an outstanding board of directors. I am very pleased to serve with them.”
We welcome our new and returning board members with the prayer that God will use their experience and wisdom to guide Joy El forward.
