WAYNESBORO–Twenty-three Waynesboro Area School District students earned a perfect score on the state required assessment of US history, government and civics for the 2022-2023 school year.

Pennsylvania Act 35, signed into law in 2018 by Gov. Tom Wolf requires all schools to administer a locally developed assessment of these topics at least once to students during grades 7-12.

AT WASD, 322 ninth grade students completed this as part of their Civics class this year.

The state provides a civic knowledge toolkit designed to assist schools to develop their assessment.  The toolkit helps satisfy required elements of Act 35 and to align assessments with State Academic Standards for Civics and Government, Economics, Geography, and History.

2022-2023 Act 35 Perfect Score Recipients:

Addison Callaway, Bella Cartwright, Claire Kooser, Emma Twigg, Kirin Clay, Jada Twigg, Myles Henson, Hayden Mowen, Aubriana Frazier, Damian Heaton, Peter Childers, Rachel Moore, Anisa Minnich, Ella Swart, Charlotte Rhodes, Taylor Martinez, Cooper Tosten, Lexi Swiney, Addison Broas, Bre McIlquham, Ethan MacDonald, Evan Dirr and Christian Ruppenthall.
