WAYNESBORO- Charles Strausbaugh has announced that he is running for re-election as a Washington Township supervisor.

He has served as a supervisor since 2018, holding chairman and vice chairman positions on the board and serving as a member of numerous committees.

Strausbaugh was born and raised in Waynesboro and has been a resident of Washington Township his whole life. He graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1968 and from Penn State University in 1972 with a degree in accounting. After graduation, he was employed by Smith-Elliott and Company as a staff accountant until 1987, when he opened his own accounting firms in Waynesboro and Greencastle.

Strausbaugh has served on many local boards over the years and been active in the Rotary Club of Waynesboro, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Waynesboro and various other organizations. He has held numerous officer positions and many leadership roles.

In January 2023, he retired from public accounting to devote his retirement continuing to serve the community and the town and township that he loves.

He is a resident of Washington Township, where he lives with his wife, Ruth, and their three dogs.

Strausbaugh said he believes in economic development in the township but with controlled growth. He is proud of recent improvements in the township, like the boulevard and the new township building under construction. He said he feels that Washington Township is a great place to live and he is excited to see what the future will bring to the township and the residents who call it home.
