HAGERSTOWN, MD – Frostburg State University (FSU) will host a virtual information session sharing details of its Physician Assistant (PA) program offered at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH) on Monday, April 24, at 6 p.m.

Director of PA admissions, Dan Champigny, MPAS PA-C, will be presenting detailed information about the program and the benefits of being a primary care physician assistant in a rural area.  A Q&A portion will be available at the conclusion of the presentation for prospective students.

“The Frostburg State University PA program was founded to address a growing need for primary care providers in the Hagerstown and Western Maryland region. Our mission is to serve the growing need for talented, compassionate physician assistants to care for a growing, diverse population,” Professor Champigny shared.

He added that, “We are thankful for the way the community has embraced the Frostburg State University PA Program. The local health systems, hospitals and outpatient offices have welcomed our students for clinical rotations. Our graduates have been able to go out into the community and make positive influences into the health outcomes of their patients. We hope to continue that with a new cycle of applications to our competitive program, which receives hundreds of applications each year.”

The job outlook for PA graduates is strong as U.S. News recently ranked physician assistants as number two on their list of the top 100 healthcare jobs. U.S. News also shared that the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 27.6% employment growth over the next 10 years with an estimated 38,000+ jobs available for physician assistants.
