Cruise-In at Fort Ritchie

CASCADE, MD- The Fort Ritchie Community Center will host the 2nd annual Cruise-In at Fort Ritchie on Saturday, June 25. The inaugural event featured more than 125 vehicles of various makes and models last summer. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors will be on display at the former U.S. Army Post in Cascade, MD as part of the Summer Celebration event.

The event has been renamed “The Bill Coyle Memorial Cruise-in at Fort Ritchie” in memory of longtime Cascade resident Bill Coyle who passed away in March. Mr. Coyle had a great love for his community and for antique vehicles. He was often seen driving one of his Model A Fords in local parades and community events. He frequented local car shows and shared his passion for automobiles with his family and friends. His love of automobiles began at a young age as he helped around his father’s automobile service station in Cascade.

“I’ve never heard anyone say anything negative about Bill Coyle,” said Buck Browning, executive director of the Fort Ritchie Community Center. “He’s one of a kind and is greatly missed by his family, friends, and this community. At the Community Center, Bill volunteered his time to help with many projects and particularly enjoyed playing the roles of Santa Clause during Christmas events and the Easter Bunny at the annual egg hunt. He loved seeing children’s faces light up and he would make himself available for photos and conversation long after the events had ended. Bill was selfless and simply loved doing good things for people, Browning added.

The Bill Coyle Memorial Cruise-in In at Fort Ritchie is sponsored by D.L. George & Sons, Sanders Market, and Ritchie Revival. The Cruise-in is one of several events planned during the Summer Celebration at Fort Ritchie on June 24 and 25. Fireworks, food trucks, venders, and more family friendly activities are planned along with the Cruise-in.

Proceeds from the Bill Coyle Memorial Cruise-in at Fort Ritchie will benefit the Community Center’s summer camp program. For more information, or to register a vehicle, please visit www.thefrcc.org or call the Community Center at 301-241-5082.
