SGI Employees Volunteer at Renfrew

WAYNESBORO- SGI employees from the Hagerstown Corporate Headquarters and Charmian Plant in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, returned to Renfrew Museum & Park for a half-day Volunteer Time Off (VTO) event there for the second time this spring.

Volunteers split into two groups to continue the efforts they began in late April at the 107-acre historic farmstead. One group focused on additional weeding needed in the site’s flower beds, pruned shrubs, and mulched. The other group continued efforts to clear excess brush, twigs, fallen limbs, trees, and trunks around the site’s creek beds and walking trails.

The effort aligns with SGI’s commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates. Each of SGI’s six locations regularly engages in volunteer activities, supports needs-based drives, and provides meaningful charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations. All full-time employees not covered by a bargaining unit are provided with VTO hours each year to utilize for eligible volunteer activities.

With 100 years of expertise, SGI, a Standard Industries company, is a leading aggregates and mining company that supplies specialized products to the North American roofing, building materials, and agricultural industries. Headquartered in Hagerstown, Maryland, SGI has five production plants powered by more than 600 employees. Plants are strategically located nationwide in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania; Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; Annapolis, Missouri; Pembine, Wisconsin; and Ione, California.
