During the meeting, the board recognized the 12 winners of the Student Excellence Scholarships, held an educational forum regarding Chat GPT and Artificial Intelligence (AI), voted on several action items, and heard reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students.

The board recognized the 12 winners of the Student Excellence Scholarships, which are awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community service. The scholarships are intended to help students pursue their academic goals and prepare for future careers.

The educational forum on Chat GPT and Artificial Intelligence (AI) provided an opportunity for board members to learn more about the technology and its potential applications in higher education. The forum included presentations from experts in the field and a discussion of the ethical and social implications of AI.

The board voted on several action items, including the approval of new academic programs and the appointment of new faculty and staff members. The board also heard reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff, and students, which provided updates on the latest developments in higher education and the challenges facing the university system.

Overall, the meeting was a productive and informative event that highlighted the achievements of students and the potential of new technologies to transform higher education. The USM Board of Regents will continue to work to ensure that the university system remains at the forefront of innovation and excellence in education.
