CHAMBERSBURG– The Chambersburg Police Department has been accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC). The accreditation process is a rigorous evaluation of an agency’s policies, procedures, and practices.

“This is a great accomplishment for the Chambersburg Police Department,” said Chief Ron Camacho. “Accreditation demonstrates our commitment to excellence and our dedication to serving the citizens of Chambersburg.”

To achieve accreditation, the Chambersburg Police Department underwent a two-day assessment by a team of independent assessors. The assessors reviewed the department’s policies and procedures, inspected its vehicles and equipment, and interviewed officers.

The assessors found that the Chambersburg Police Department meets or exceeds all of the standards set by PLEAC. The standards cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Policies and procedures
  • Training
  • Equipment
  • Facilities
  • Community relations
  • Internal affairs

“The Chambersburg Police Department is one of the best in South Central Pennsylvania,” said PLEAC Executive Director Michael G. Spizarny. “This accreditation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the department’s officers and staff.”

The Chambersburg Police Department is the second police agency in Franklin County to be accredited. The other accredited agency is the Greencastle Borough Police Department.
