Visit a Fire House. The Greencastle Fire Prevention Week Open House will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rescue Hose Company, 842 S. Washington St. in Greencastle. There will be a variety of activities for all ages, including interactive safety stations, fire truck rides, a balloon artist and face painting, station tours, milkies ice cream, refreshments, fire helmet crafts and games, local agency booths and information, and helicopter visits and tours.

Paint the Town Pink. Friday, Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. in downtown Chambersburg. This annual event celebrates fighters, survivors, and those we have loved and lost to breast cancer. Participate in the Pink Barbie Parade, decorate a bra for the Bra-Dazzled event, buy baked goods at the bake sale, and visit community partners. New this year is a mini golf event sponsored by Cluggys, with a chance to win a party for 10! There will also be a free kids craft.

Catch a Flight. Open Airplane Day & EAA Young Eagles Flights are happening on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historical Fairchild Dome Hangar in Hagerstown, MD. Bring the family out to climb aboard museum aircraft and exhibits, and don’t miss the EAA Chapter 36 Young Eagle plane rides, free to ages 8-17, weather permitting.

Get Spooky. The 2023 Quad State Beer Fest: Halloween Hysteria takes place at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center in Boonsboro, Md. on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. This 10th annual event will see over 35 breweries plus wineries, cideries, distilleries and seltzeries! Take part in numerous games and contests, browse & shop from dozens of vendors, and chow down on some scrumptious grub from local food vendors. Don’t forget to dress the part in joining over 2,000 others in the Halloween festivities.

Go Trick-or-Treating. First Friday in Waynesboro will be held on Friday, Oct. 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Main Street Park. There will be tricks and treats for all ages, including a costume contest, live music by Willeby Hayes, and food trucks on site. Shop owners will be handing out candy to kids dressed up, and there will be a planting party hosted by The Little Greenhouse. For only $12, children can choose a cute animal pot and their very own plant to care for and watch grow.
