Franklin County Veterans Affairs Launches Veterans Day Throw Down Fundraising Campaign

CHAMBERSBURG – Just in time for Veterans Day, the Franklin County Commissioners, along with the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs, have announced a new giving campaign called the Veterans Day Throw Down.

Between Nov. 1 and Nov. 11, organizations can compete to raise money for the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Outreach Fund. The team that raises the most money during this 11-day competition will win the rights to choose the name of the next puppy in Franklin County’s Operation Save-A-Vet, Save-A-Pet service dog program.

“Raising funds and sustaining our outreach programs are essential roles of Franklin County Veterans Affairs,” said Justin Slep, director of Franklin County Veterans Affairs. “It’s important to try and involve our donors as much as possible throughout the process because they are the ones who are truly making a difference in our community. We’ve added a little competition to this fundraising campaign and we’re excited to see where it goes!”

All funds raised through the Veterans Day Throw Down will benefit the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Outreach Fund, which supports a variety of programs serving over 13,000 veterans who call Franklin County home. Programs are funded solely through community support and donations and include Operation Save-a-Vet, Save-a-Pet, Operation Rucks to Reins, Franklin County MilitaryShare, and the annual We Salute You Scholarship, among others.

Organizations interested in participating in the Veterans Day Throw Down must register by calling Franklin County Veterans Affairs at 717-263-4326 or by visiting givebutter.com/pmz4b3/join.

For more information on Franklin County Veterans Affairs and its services, call 717-263-4326 or visit www.franklincountypa.gov.
