Chambersburg Asphalt Patching Begins

CHAMBERSBURG- Asphalt patching on several streets in Chambersburg will begin this week, including Commerce Street, Edgar Avenue, Fifth Avenue, North Fourth Street, Grant Street, McKinley Street, Norland Avenue, Roland Avenue, North Seventh Street, and Woodstock Road.

The construction activity will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and vehicle access on the street will be restricted.

A flagging crew will be present to direct vehicles through the construction site.

The construction activity will involve the permanent restoration of temporary asphalt patches that were installed as part of the lead gooseneck replacement project managed by the Borough Water Department. In 2021, the Water Department received a $3.3 million grant from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to remove and replace approximately 1,500 lead goosenecks from the service lines of Borough water customers. The work on this project will take place in 2023 and 2024, and streets other than those currently scheduled for permanent restoration will be affected. You can identify a street affected by this project where temporary or permanent patches are located in a line every so many feet.

The Borough of Chambersburg and New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank vehicle operators for their patience while street patching work takes place.
