NEWVILLE- The Franklin County Career and Technology School recently took a step towards bridging the gap between classroom and career with a VIP tour of the FedEx Ground facility in Newville, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Stockman, Miss Avey, and Mrs. Mertz, key members of the school’s Workforce Development Team, embarked on a fascinating journey through the vast, one-million-square-foot facility, gaining valuable insights into the diverse career pathways available at FedEx and the potential partnerships between CareerTech and this industry giant.

The tour served as an eye-opening experience for the team, showcasing the dynamic operations of a major shipping and logistics hub. Beyond witnessing the impressive scale and efficiency of the facility, they explored the various roles and skillsets involved in keeping the packages moving. This firsthand exposure broadened their understanding of the diverse career opportunities for CareerTech graduates, ranging from logistics specialists and package handlers to operations supervisors and even engineers.

Furthermore, the tour highlighted the benefits and flexibility offered by FedEx as an employer. The Workforce Development team learned about the company’s commitment to supporting employee growth through tuition reimbursement programs, offering attractive options for CareerTech graduates seeking to continue their education while building their careers. Additionally, the discussion of flexible scheduling options presented another appealing aspect of a FedEx career, particularly for students seeking to balance work and academic pursuits.

This tour represents a significant step forward in connecting education with meaningful career options. By fostering collaboration with industry leaders like FedEx, CareerTech aims to equip its students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the ever-evolving job market. The insights gained through such collaborations will undoubtedly pave the way for future partnerships and initiatives, ensuring that CareerTech graduates are well-prepared to navigate the world of work with confidence and ambition.
