Cameron Schroy to seek Democratic nomination in SD-33

Cameron Schroy announced that he will be running for the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvania’s 33rd Senatorial District.  The district encompasses all of Franklin and Adams Counties and the primary election is April 23rd, 2024.

“I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Democratic nomination for state senate,” said Schroy.  “I am from here, I love it here, and I want to make sure we are represented in Harrisburg the way we deserve. Franklin County and Adams County deserve a senator who will be an advocate for our region – not one who picks partisan fights and refuses to work for the greater good of all Pennsylvanians. We must strengthen and protect the quality of life of our residents, and make our corner of the Commonwealth one where there are more opportunities to build a good life.”

Schroy, 27, is a lifelong resident of Franklin County.  A graduate of Shippensburg University where he earned a social studies teaching degree, Schroy has been a teacher in Waynesboro since 2018.  He resides in Greencastle with his wife Allex.

Schroy has served in various community leadership and volunteer roles, including on the Greencastle Area Water Authority and as the chair of the Franklin County Democratic Committee.

“Education is near to my heart, and the first priority in any budget must always be to ensure that our local public schools are fully funded.  I am deeply concerned our state government continues to squander millions of dollars each year on unaccountable charter schools that waste precious tax dollars while our public schools lack the resources that they need to give every Pennsylvanian child the shot at a great life.

“I believe that good government can do great things – and I’m asking for the help and support of every citizen of the 33rd district to support my candidacy. It would be an honor to represent us all in Harrisburg, and to work hard every day to serve the families and communities of Franklin and Adams Counties.”
