WAYNESBORO- At the latest School Board Meeting, the Waynesboro Area School District (WASD) approved a revised schedule for the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year. The Board also approved the 2024-2025 school schedule and will release that information by email on or before March 15th.

To summarize the end of the current year, students will attend classes on 180 days, and teachers will work 187. The last day of Marking Period (grades 6-12) for the 3rd Quarter will be March 26th, and the 4th Quarter will end May 31st. For grades K-5, the last day of the 2nd Trimester was March 4th, and the 3rd Trimester ends May 31st. 2024 Graduation Day is also May 31st.

This month, students enjoyed an early dismissal day on March 1st, and will have an Easter/Spring break from March 28-April 3, 2024, plus an early dismissal on Monday April 8th. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held at the High School on March 7th from 3-6 pm.

There are fewer noteworthy days in April and May, with students attending class 20 and 22 days respectively in those months. After graduation, Teachers will spend their 187th working day on June 3rd.

Some changes in the schedule were the result of snow makeup days from December 22nd and February 19th. A late winter or early spring snowfall could potentially alter the remaining school schedule. The schedule has a helpful code of definitions to explain special days on the school schedule, including Make-Up Days, Early Dismissal Days, Mandatory Work Days for all staff, Parent Teacher Conferences, and end of Quarters and Trimesters. The calendar can be viewed online at: wasd.k12.pa.us.

At the School Board meeting, the motion to approve the 2024-25 school calendar was introduced by Board Member Patricia Strite and seconded by Board Member Kimberly Miles. The final resolution was the motion carried with eight of nine board members voting yes.

According to the 2024-25 approved schedule, students will also attend classes for 180 days, and Teachers for 187. 2025 Graduation Day will be May 30th. This approved schedule is also viewable on WASD’s website and is downloadable for teachers, parents, and students.
