Honor the Irish. On Friday, March 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., an Irish Happy Hour will take place at the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg. Women Get Real. The Franklin County Visitors Bureau will host a women’s mixer on Friday, March 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. Bake Bread. The Vintage Buckle Boutique in Shippensburg will host a pop-up event featuring a variety of delectable treats from Lauren of All Things Sourdough on Saturday, March 9, at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can indulge in a selection of sourdough loaves including plain, jalapeño cheddar, bacon jalapeño cheddar, everything bagel, and pizza varieties. Take a Spring Walk. The Institute in Waynesboro invites children to participate in StoryWalk® Sundays: March at the Pine Hill Recreation Area located at 12684 Mentzer Gap Rd. This Sunday, March 10, 1:30 to 3 p.m. This engaging event involves a guided walk along a story trail where kids can read an entertaining storybook, followed by crafting a special project to take home. The featured book for this month-long event is “When Spring Comes” by Kevin Henkes, which captures the essence of the emerging spring season with its sights, sounds, and smells. Participation is free, but registration is mandatory. Participate in a Play. This weekend the Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center in Hagerstown, MD, present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” from 8 to 10 p.m. This Rachel Sheinkin musical follows an amusing and heartwarming journey of six quirky pre-teens competing for the ultimate spelling title. As they navigate through a series of challenging (and possibly fictional) words, the contestants share comical and poignant anecdotes from their personal lives. Audience engagement is encouraged in this PG-13 rated production featuring language and themes suitable for mature audiences.
