Hagerstown, MD – The Washington County, MD Department of Business and Economic Development has announced the new Maryland Tax Connect Portal.  All businesses are now required to register in this new tax portal.

“This self-service portal aims to support Maryland taxpayers in filing their taxes online more easily and more securely, as well as interact with the Comptroller’s office in a variety of ways,” says Jonathan Horowitz, Director of the Department of Business and Economic Development. “Business taxpayers will be able to use Maryland Tax Connect Portal to easily file and pay their state taxes.”

Although only business taxpayers will be able to use the portal at this time, by 2026, all Maryland taxpayers will be able to pay their state taxes through the Maryland Tax Connect portal.

The portal is designed to allow taxpayers to complete several simple and vital functions themselves, accessible from either a mobile device or on a desktop, including:

  • Making online payments,
  • Updating personal information,
  • Retrieving tax information,
  • Filing returns
  • Viewing filing and tax history,
  • Registering a business,
  • Applying for or renewing business licenses, and
  • Applying for sales and use tax exemption certificates.

By accessing Mayland Tax Connect, you can:

  • Register for webinars,
  • View video tutorials,
  • Access user guides,
  • Learn what to expect,
  • Dates of importance, and
  • Frequently asked questions.

If additional assistance is needed, you can schedule an in-person appointment at an office nearest you, by clicking here: Comptroller of Maryland Locations or click here to schedule a telephone appointment.  Also, feel free to reach out to Linda Spence, Business Specialist for the Washington County Department of Business and Economic Development, with any questions you may have, LSpence@WashCo-MD.net or 240-313-2286.
