CHAMBERSBURG — This weekend, Downtown Chambersburg Inc. (DCI) will host the Fountain Festival, presented by Shoemakers Insurance and Financial Services, over April 19–21, replete with fun, food, and games. Centered around downtown Chambersburg’s Memorial Fountain at the intersection of Routes 11 and 30, the Fountain Festival features over 30 food trucks, 40 local retail vendors, a beer garden, and rides and carnival games from Snyder’s Attractions.

The festival will take place in the downtown center and feature various activities. Snyder’s Attractions will be located in the Hood Street parking lot at the intersection of King Street and Hood Street for the entire weekend. Live music performances will take place in Chambers Fort Park on Saturday and Sunday. Food trucks will be stationed in Chambers Fort Park and the Rosedale parking lot on Sunday.

Main Street will host several one-day-only activities on Saturday, including retail vendors, a mobile petting zoo, bounce houses from L&L Creations, and axe throwing. To accommodate the activities, Main Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“Saturday, especially, is going to be a big day,” says DCI president Sam Thrush. “We at DCI are excited to celebrate spring and commemorate our fountain with our Chambersburg community. We couldn’t do it without our friends at Verstandig Media and Good Day PA helping us get the word out as well as the support from our presenting sponsor, Shoemaker’s Insurance and Financial Services.”

Shoemaker’s agent Sara Rhine says, “We value community involvement as a core part of our company’s identity. We believe in the power of giving back and staying engaged with and connected to the people we serve, and we are honored to do that through the Fountain Festival.”

Many vendors and local businesses will also be participating in the Fountain Festival. Ahmer Chaudhry, owner of The Falafel Shack, looks forward to seeing families and people of all ages coming downtown for the festival. “We love seeing how our community comes together to support small, local businesses like ours. We try our best to support local events and give back to the community here because so many of our neighbors helped us survive the difficulties of the pandemic. We are so grateful for our downtown Chambersburg community.”

Several downtown businesses will have special events coinciding with the Fountain Festival, adding to the festivities. Ludwig’s Jewelry will host their 3rd annual Flamingo Fun event on Saturday, featuring giveaways and flamingo games with proceeds going towards Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance. Owner Ann Wagner expressed excitement about joining in on the Fountain Festival. “Our beautiful fountain…is very underappreciated…It centers our town and serves as a symbol of it. We are exceptionally proud to participate in this festival.”
