Vintage Aircraft Adventure. The Hagerstown Aviation Museum is inviting families to step back in time this Saturday, April 20, for their annual Open Airplane Day. Visitors can explore the historical Fairchild Dome Hangar and climb aboard vintage aircraft and exhibits detailing the stories of the local men and women who helped the Hagerstown aviation industry soar. For a $200 donation, thrill-seekers can even experience the rush of open cockpit flying in a 1943 Fairchild PT-19 Primary Trainer. With exhibits, artifacts, and the chance to take to the skies, the Hagerstown Aviation Museum’s Open Airplane Day promises a fun and educational outing for all ages. Carve wooden sculptures. The 2024 Central PA Chainsaw Carvers Festival is set to return to the Shippensburg Fairgrounds this April 18-20. Over the course of the three-day event, visitors will have the opportunity to witness the incredible talents of professional chainsaw carvers from across the country. In addition to unique carvings available for purchase, the festival will feature speed carving demonstrations, auctions, food trucks, vendors, and more. On Friday evening, attendees can look forward to a performance by the popular 80’s tribute band, The Reagan Years. For the first time, the auctions will also offer an expanded online simulcast, allowing buyers from surrounding states to participate remotely.
Celebrate downtown Chambersburg. The Chambersburg Fountain Festival, hosted by Downtown Chambersburg Inc. (DCI) is set to take place from April 19-21 in downtown Chambersburg. The festival will feature over 30 food trucks, 40 local retail vendors, a beer garden, rides and carnival games, live music performances, and various other activities centered around the town’s Memorial Fountain. Main Street will be closed on Saturday to accommodate the festivities, which will include a mobile petting zoo, bounce houses, and axe throwing. Local businesses, such as The Falafel Shack and Ludwig’s Jewelry, are excited to participate in the event and support the Chambersburg community.
Go For a Food Stroll. The 6th Annual Food Stroll in Downtown Waynesboro on Sunday, April 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. offers attendees the opportunity to sample a variety of local food and drink offerings, with live music and brews provided by Lucky Punk and Rough Edges Brewing, with proceeds benefiting Mainstreet Waynesboro’s downtown revitalization efforts.
Get Your Boots Dirty. The Dirty Boots Country Fest is set to be a raucous good time this Saturday, April 20th. Attendees can look forward to a bigger dance floor, line dancing lessons, more beer stations, specialty cocktails, delicious food, an array of vendors, a mechanical bull, a cow milking contest, horseshoes, fun activities for kids, a Jeep show and ride, and the festival’s first official mascot. The lineup of country music acts is sure to get the crowd on their feet, with performances from local favorites Bobby D & The Truckstop Burritos, the high-energy Nathan Bartgis Band, Shania Twin tribute artist Donna Huber, and the modern country stylings of Triple Rail Turn. It’s shaping up to be a boot-scootin’ good time at the Dirty Boots Country Fest.
