The Pen Mar Little League Major’s team, the Dodgers, sponsored by Henicle’s Plumbing have started their season with a 5-1 record. The season opened with a nail biter against Valley Dorsey Brothers. The game was tied at 7 in the bottom of the 6th when singles by Levi Ringenary and Anthanee Bowers set the stage for a walk off single by Grayson Miller scoring one run to go ahead 8-7. Anthanee Bowers got the win on the mound going 2 innings giving up 0 hits and striking out 4.

They then traveled to Greencastle where a total team effort helped them to surge past Greencastle Dapper House 17-8. Zayn Hoxie led the way with 3 runs batted in. Braylin Reynolds and Jacob Adkins’ keen eye at the plate gave the team base runners. Anthanee Bowers, Grayson Miller and Quinton Myers all collected hits to help the team in their win.

The following week started with a 9-5 victory over Greencastle Team Ricker. The Pen Mar Dodgers went down 3-2 in the first inning, but ultimately flipped the game on its head in the third inning racking up 7 runs on four hits. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Zach Surace driving in 2 runs of his total 3 RBIs. Jameson Ebaugh earned the win for Pen Mar. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits over 4 innings, striking out 7.

The Dodgers ended their second week of play traveling to Valley Little League for a game against BG Services. Zach Surace’s big day at the plate coupled with Grayson Miller’s lights out pitching performance propelled the Dodgers to a 7-4 victory. Zach went 3 for 3 at the plate racking up 4 RBIs. Grayson went 5 innings on the bump giving up just 2 hits and striking out 9. The team racked up 10 hits on the evening. Levi Ringenary, Chace Hospelhorn, Grayson Miller, Zach Surace, Quinton Myers, John Krumpotich and Will Krumpotich all got the bat on the ball.

In their third week of play, the Dodgers suffered their first loss to Greencastle Sportsman. Despite a 7-run deficit in the third inning, the Pen Mar Dodgers almost came all the way back, eventually falling 10-8.
