Leg Up Farm Receives $500,000 Congressionally Directed Spending Award

FAYETTEVILLE– Thanks to the sponsorship of Senator Bob Casey, Jr. and support from
Senator John Fetterman, Leg Up Farm was awarded a $500,000 Congressionally Directed
Spending award in this year’s federal budget. This funding provides a huge boost to the
CHANGING LIVES – One Family at a Time Capital Campaign.

Almost ten years ago, community leaders in Franklin County approached Leg Up Farm’s
leadership team about replicating its pediatric therapy center, located in Mount Wolf,
Pennsylvania, within their community. They advocated that the addition of Leg Up Farm in
Franklin County would provide children impacted by special needs with a one-of-a-kind therapy
center in which their development and growth would be supported and enhanced. Since that
time, these leaders have further assisted Leg Up Farm in exploring the need for such a project as
well as the resources available to make it possible. Today, we stand close to the full realization
of that vision.

“For as long as I have been in public office, I have fought to ensure that children with
disabilities have the support they need and deserve,” said Senator Bob Casey (D-PA). “I
advocated for this funding because the Leg Up Farm plays a critical role in the lives of
children with disabilities in Mount Wolf, and this investment will allow these important
services to be replicated in Franklin County.”

“I’m proud to support Leg Up Farm’s expansion into Franklin County with this
investment. Their holistic approach to pediatric care is transformative,” said Senator
Fetterman. “By opening up their services beyond Medicaid recipients and offering flexible
payment options, Leg Up Farm guarantees that every child has access to the care they
deserve. This new facility will be a game-changer for child wellness in our community, and
I am excited to see innovative health care resources like this become more accessible
throughout Pennsylvania.”

“We could not be more appreciative of this support and, particularly, Senators Casey and
Fetterman who made it all possible. This award pushes the campaign past the 60% mark of
funding needed to begin vertical construction. Excited is putting it mildly. To think of the
special needs children and families who will benefit from the life-changing services available at
the future Leg Up Farm – Franklin County is simply heartwarming.” Jen Hitz, Chief
Development Officer of Leg Up Farm
