CHAMBERSBURG – Fandom Fest 2024, a celebration of all things geeky and pop culture-related, is set to take place on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Chambersburg. The event, which is free and open to the public, promises a day filled with exciting activities, contests, and opportunities to connect with fellow fans.

The festival will feature a wide range of attractions, including a Mermaid Grotto, where attendees can take photos with three mermaids, including Gingersnap the mermaid (and Miss Mermaid PA), Maeve the Mt. Gretna Mermaid, and Candace the Mermaid.

Levy Metal Enterprises, LLC will be showcasing three of their fandom vehicles, adding to the excitement of the event.

Costume contests with prizes for all ages will be sponsored by the Franklin County Visitor’s Center, while Rockdale Drafting, LLC will be hosting brick-building contests with prizes for participants of all ages. Hammer & Stain Chambersburg is sponsoring a scavenger hunt through downtown businesses, with prizes for the winners.

Warehouse Cinemas – Leitersburg and Hagerstown Flying Boxcars have donated prize packs, and the Franklin County Library System Bookmobile will be on-site, bringing books and possibly hosting character storytimes. Voice-actor Marion Toro, whose voice has been featured in Paw Patrol Toy Play and Scribble Scrubbie Pets, will be in attendance, adding to the star power of the event.

The Phoenix Hollow LARP group will be demonstrating their live-action role-playing skills, and South Central STEM will showcase their 4050 Biohazard Robotics team. Other entertainment will be sponsored by BCM Payroll Services and Negley’s Water and Well Drilling.

Attendees can look forward to savory food provided by Dabo Rye and over 25 fandom-based vendors selling their wares. Cosplay guests and fandom costume groups will add to the vibrant atmosphere of the event, and businesses throughout town will participate by offering special sales and offerings.

“Fandom Fest 2024 is an opportunity for people of all ages to come together and celebrate their love for all things geeky and pop culture-related,” “Whether you’re a fan of movies, TV shows, books, video games, or anything in between, there’s something for everyone at this festival.”

The event will take place in the Rosedale Lot and Chambers Fort Park area, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of all the activities and attractions on offer.
