Artist Seth Holmes unveils his new gallery in downtown Waynesboro on Saturday May 25th from 8 am to 2 pm. The vibrant space, called Holmes Watercolors, is located in the town square at 8 East Main Street between Wee Scot Bookshop and the Candy Kitchen.

Seth Holmes works primarily with watercolors, seeking wonder and whimsy in his subjects. The Frederick native explores his enthusiastic interest in architecture, and since moving to Waynesboro has found the town’s buildings a source of inspiration. Holmes also enjoys the Boro’s small-town charm and support for the arts. Waynesboro has a thriving creative community, with its Destination Arts events held every Friday night at various downtown venues.

Holmes Watercolors event will feature door prizes, including an art-class giveaway for four people- a $240 value. Seth’s work will be on display and the artist plans featuring other local artists as the gallery develops. New pieces will be shown at his Grand Opening, and other surprises await art lovers at the area’s newest creative space.

Holmes’ artwork is lively and distinct, winning numerous awards, including a Grand Prize at Historic Frederick’s Holiday Art Competition. The artist’s creations have been shown at numerous area galleries including The Delaplaine Arts Center, Gallery 50, Wilson College, 42 West Arts, and The Nisei Gallery. With his new gallery opening, Holmes will enjoy a permanent venue to showcase his architectural caricatures and other works, which reflect his unique vision.

Holmes will also teach painting to artists seeking improvement with their creative skills. For more information about classes, commissions, or to see more examples of Holmes’ work, visit his website: holmeswatercolors.com, or call the gallery: 717-208-2849.

Holmes Watercolors Grand Opening coincides with Waynesboro’s Farmer’s Market seasonal start at Main Street Park. The outdoor community market is open to the public from 9 am to 1 pm every Saturday until late September.
