WAYNESBORO—Children’s Summer Stories, presented by Buttonwood Nature Center, home of The Institute, begin on June 12 and will be held every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon through July 17 at Red Run Park in Rouzerville, Pa.

Children will gather in the park to hear stories and enjoy related hands-on activities. The theme for this year’s stories and activities is “Tales of Tails.”

The free program is open to pre-school and older children, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required.

Kathy Helfrick and Jane Glenn, both retired educators, return this summer to read a new story each week.

“Summer Stories gives me an opportunity to continue doing one of my very favorite activities, reading books to children,” Helfrick said. “The program began as a small group of kids enjoying stories. Our audience has steadily grown. I love the joy I see as the children become part of the stories.”

“Summer Stories includes two of my greatest loves—children and books!” Glenn said. “We have a ball reading with the children and doing crafts.”

The program is part of Buttonwood’s Summer Programs series for kids. Information about additional summer programs for youth is available at www.buttonwoodnaturecenter.org.

If the weather is inclement, check Buttonwood Nature Center’s website or Facebook page, or call 717-655-8177.
