Licensed Fundraising Counsel Obtains Women-Owned Small Business Certification

WAYNESBORO — Licensed fundraising counsel Ghost Writer LLC has received its Women Business Enterprises (WBE) and Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) certifications from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) this month. These certifications open the door to federal government contracts, increased private enterprise opportunities, business development assistance, and specialized education and networking.

WOSBs are WBEs that also meet the standard of small business size for the company’s main industry, as determined by the Small Business Administration.

“This achievement has been several years in the making,” says Kirsten Hubbard, founder and CEO of Ghost Writer LLC. “The certifications open opportunities for growth for Ghost Writer and for our clients, and we are positioning ourselves to take full advantage. Many federal funding programs require recipients to contract with businesses like WOSBs, and we are now poised to fill those roles.”

Businesses that are at least 51% owned and operated by women are eligible to apply for WBE and/or WOSB certification. After years of preparation, Hubbard went through a nine-month-long process involving interviews and paperwork to apply for and receive both certifications. Approval was granted for both this month.

Ghost Writer LLC helps nonprofits, for-profits, and municipalities further their missions through grant and RFP writing, donor database management, grant research and reporting, press releases, social media, and other marketing and development tasks.

While many clients are based near the company headquarters in Franklin County, Pa., the company is licensed to work with nonprofits in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia, and works with for-profits nationally and globally.

Ghost Writer LLC’s innovative business model presents a team of experts in writing, editing, graphic design, and more, all for less than the cost of hiring full-time employees. Today, Ghost Writer LLC has four full-time employees who serve over 30 nonprofit and for-profit organizations.

“Ghost Writer’s team is crucial to this accomplishment,” Hubbard points out. “We will have additional announcements as we grow to meet our new scope and amplify our mission of Writing a Better Human Story.”
