Experience Country Music Under Stars. The Friday Night Music Fest will take place on July 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 14426 Misty Meadow Road in Ringgold, MD. The event will feature Kevin Booth’s God and Country show, with proceeds benefiting the Smithsburg Tractor Society. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for open outdoor seating. The family-friendly event, hosted by Interludes with Impact, will offer refreshments and hay rides. This community gathering combines live music, patriotic themes, and rural entertainment, providing a summer evening of fun while supporting a local organization

Join the First Friday Fun. Mainstreet Waynesboro will host a First Friday event on July 5, starting at 5 p.m., featuring a variety of entertaining activities for the whole community. The highlight of the evening will be the Hot Dog Eating Competition, where participants can showcase their eating prowess or spectators can cheer on the competitors. Attendees can also enjoy “Putting Around Town,” a mini-golf experience spread throughout the downtown area. Live music will be provided by Vienna Notarianni, adding to the festive atmosphere. For younger visitors, STEM activities will be available, offering educational and engaging experiences.

Relive the Gettysburg Retreat. The Monterey Pass Battlefield Park and Museum in Washington Township, will host a unique living history weekend called “Thunder and Mud” on July 6-7. The event will feature a reenactment of the Confederate retreat from Gettysburg, with 50 reenactors marching 8 miles from Fairfield to Monterey Pass. This recreation aims to showcase the logistical challenges faced by Civil War armies after major battles. The weekend will also include various demonstrations of camp life, medicine, and military drills, as well as access to the battlefield museum. The event serves as both an educational experience and a fundraiser for the Friends of Monterey Pass.

Saddle Up for Family Fun. The Franklin County Fair Horse Show will kick off on Saturday, July 6, at 9:30 a.m., offering free admission and a variety of family-friendly activities. The event, held at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, will feature a pony petting zoo, stick horse races, pony rides, and face painting. Visitors can also enjoy watching the horse show throughout the day. At noon, the fair will present Equine Entertainment, showcasing trick and liberty horse performances. The event promises a full day of equestrian-themed fun and education for all ages.

Celebrate Freedom at Fort Frederick. Fort Frederick State Park in Big Pool, Maryland, will host “For the Reception of Prisoners: The Fort in the American Revolution” on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event showcases the fort’s role as a prisoner-of-war camp during the American Revolution, offering visitors a glimpse into 18th-century life. Park staff and historical interpreters will present various programs, including musket firing demonstrations, soldiers’ cooking displays, uniform and clothing exhibits, and interactive military drills. Admission is $3 per vehicle for in-state visitors and $5 for out-of-state visitors, with free entry for Maryland Park Service pass holders and veterans or active-duty military with ID.
