WAYNESBORO- Residents and visitors flocked to downtown Waynesboro on Thursday for the 28th annual Summer Jubilee, a day-long celebration of Independence Day filled with activities, entertainment, and fireworks.

The festivities began early in the morning with a Kids’ 1-mile Fun Run at 7:30 a.m., followed by the popular Firecracker 5K race at 8 a.m. Runners of all ages participated in the events, kicking off the day with enthusiasm and community spirit.

As the morning progressed, craft and food vendors opened their stalls along Main Street, offering a variety of local goods and culinary delights to attendees. The array of vendors provided a bustling atmosphere throughout the day, with visitors browsing and sampling until 4 p.m.

At 9:30 a.m., the highlight of the morning commenced as the Brothers of the Brush-sponsored parade made its way through town. Starting at C.V. Avenue, the procession traveled east on Main Street before turning onto Broad Street and concluding at Memorial Park. Spectators lined the streets, cheering on the colorful floats, marching bands, and community groups that participated in the patriotic display.

Throughout the day, a diverse lineup of entertainment kept the crowds engaged. Performances by Ray Owen, Mockingbird, the Children’s Theatre Troupe, Nocandu, Center of Gravity, and Rich Fehle provided a mix of music, theater, and family-friendly acts. The Kid’s Zone offered additional activities and games for younger attendees, ensuring fun for all ages.

As darkness fell, the celebration reached its pinnacle with a spectacular fireworks display. Thousands of onlookers gathered to watch the sky light up with a dazzling array of colors, bringing the 28th Summer Jubilee to a memorable close
