Chambersburg to Unveil $10 Million+ in Federal Infrastructure Upgrades

CHAMBERSBURG — The Borough of Chambersburg is set to showcase major infrastructure improvements funded by federal grants at an upcoming public event on August 5.

Borough officials and project leaders will provide details on several key initiatives, including the Southgate Redevelopment Plan and new federally funded stormwater upgrades. The centerpiece of the presentation will be a $5.56 million federal grant aimed at replacing high-risk, aging gas pipelines.

This substantial investment in Chambersburg’s natural gas infrastructure is expected to ensure reliable and economically-friendly service for years to come. The funding is part of a broader effort by the U.S. Department of Transportation to modernize critical utility systems across the country.

In addition to the gas pipeline project, the event will highlight other improvements designed to maintain Chambersburg’s status as a “clean, green, safe, and healthy community.” These efforts align with the borough’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure and outdoor spaces.

The tented event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon at 265 S Water Street, adjacent to CVS on Washington Street. Parking will be available at the Southgate Shopping Center. Borough officials encourage residents to attend and learn firsthand about these transformative projects.

RSVPs are requested through the provided link. This showcase comes as part of a broader trend of federal investment in local infrastructure. In recent years, Franklin County, where Chambersburg is located, has seen significant federal funding for various community projects, including those focused on revitalization and key infrastructure improvements.
