Few drivers on the sprint car circuit have seen more PA Speedweek races than Lance Dewease.

The National Sprint Car Hall of Famer, known as the “Fayetteville Flyer,” is a three-time points champion of Pennsylvania’s biggest week of racing with wins in 1997, 1999, and 2001.

Dewease, 58, is still racing on a part-time schedule and this year he made his return to PA Speedweek, competing in six of nine races. Over that span, Dewease logged three Top 10 finishes, taking 10th in the 410 Sprints at Port Royal Speedway on July 3, seventh at Hagerstown Speedway on July 4, and sixth at Williams Grove Speedway on July 5.

Dewease showcased his ability to navigate traffic on the very first night of PA Speedweek at Williams Grove on June 28. After scraping by in the B-Main to grab the sixth and final transfer spot, Dewease found himself starting from the 24th position. From there, he zipped ahead 12 spots to finish in 12th and earn the Hard Charger award.

Also making an appearance on the PA Speedweek stage was Greencastle’s Gary Stuhler, who took ninth place in the Super Late Models feature at Port Royal on July 6.

Closer to home, at Path Valley Speedway, three drivers from the Local.News area nailed down wins. Greencastle’s DJ Myers won the Limited Late Models, Hagerstown’s Kameron Morral conquered the 600 Sprints, and Fayetteville’s Cameron Defenderfer topped the field in the Thunder Cars ahead of Chambersburg’s Kevin Bard (3rd) and Greencastle’s Tara Kerlin (4th). Alyssa Rowe, of Chambersburg, finished fifth in the Modifieds feature.

Finally, at BAPS Motor Speedway, Greencastle’s Scott Palmer competed in the Late Models feature and turned in a runner-up finish.

Below is a speedway-by-speedway, feature-by-feature look at how area drivers have performed over the last week:
