GREENCASTLE– Walmart is set to open its doors to the public for a rare glimpse into its state-of-the-art fulfillment operations. The retail giant will host an open house at its new high-tech fulfillment center in Greencastle, on Saturday, July 20, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The event, organized in partnership with the Chambersburg and Greencastle-Antrim chambers of commerce, will offer tours of the 1.5 million square-foot facility, which represents Walmart’s next generation of fulfillment centers. This advanced hub, equipped with cutting-edge automation technology, is designed to provide next- or two-day shipping to Walmart+ members and customers across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey.

Visitors will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the innovative automated storage and retrieval systems that have streamlined Walmart’s fulfillment process from twelve steps to just five. The technology allows for double the storage capacity and processing efficiency compared to traditional sites.

“We’re excited to showcase our new fulfillment center and its role in transforming how we ship online orders to customers,” said David Guggina, senior vice president of automation and innovation at Walmart.

The Greencastle facility, which opened earlier this year, is part of Walmart’s broader strategy to modernize its supply chain. It employs over 1,000 associates in various roles, including new tech-focused positions such as control technicians and quality audit analysts.

In addition to facility tours, the open house will feature food and games for children, making it a family-friendly event. The fulfillment center is located at 1915 Ebberts Spring Court, Greencastle, PA. This rare public access event offers a unique opportunity for the community to explore the future of retail logistics and Walmart’s commitment to innovation in the e-commerce space.
