PA VetConnect Program Now Codified Under State Law

HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) announced that the PA VetConnect program, which serves the state’s more than 700,000 veterans, is now officially established under state law. This development comes as Act 70 of 2024 is set to take effect in mid-September.

PA VetConnect is designed to assess the needs of veterans and their beneficiaries, locate resources to meet those needs, and connect veterans with the appropriate services. The program is administered by the DMVA and aims to streamline access to a comprehensive database of resources. This database enables local veteran advocates, including staff at county veterans affairs offices, to direct veterans to relevant information, resources, programs, and services both locally and across the Commonwealth.

State Senator Doug Mastriano (R-33) spearheaded the legislative effort to enshrine PA VetConnect into law, ensuring that the program will continue to assist veterans in accessing the benefits and services they have earned through their military service.

The DMVA encourages veterans to explore the PA VetConnect initiative to learn about the thousands of resources available to them, regardless of their county of residence, branch of service, or military rank. Veterans are also invited to sign up for the PA Veterans Registry to receive the DMVA Digest, a weekly electronic newsletter that provides valuable information on benefits, employment opportunities, veterans events, and more.

For more information on PA VetConnect, veterans can visit the DMVA website or contact the department directly through their toll-free number or contact form. This legislative milestone marks a significant step in enhancing the support system for Pennsylvania’s veteran community, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to thrive post-service.
