Join the magic of the Waynesboro Wizarding Weekend. The eighth annual Waynesboro Wizarding Weekend is set to enchant visitors from August 2-3, transforming downtown Waynesboro into a magical hub of activity. Attendees can enjoy a variety of attractions, including movie screenings at Waynesboro Theatre, a LEGO Lodge filled with displays, and a Harry Potter Pub Crawl featuring a VIP meet-and-greet with a “Deathly Hallows Part 2” actress. Borogon Alley will offer thousands of magical items just in time for the school semester. The festivities kick off with a night market on August 2, featuring over 25 vendors and live music by Cameron Thomas. Additionally, Rough Edges Brewing and Music Makers will host musical events throughout the weekend, while local eateries will serve special themed drinks and extended hours for all attendees.

Experience a Civil War adventure. The Shippensburg History Center will host a Civil War Day Camp for children in grades 4 to 6, running from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2. The camp, which costs $10 per child and has a maximum capacity of 12 participants, includes activities such as a scavenger hunt, learning about Civil War soldier tools, writing letters home, and engaging in historical games. Children are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Registration is required for this educational experience located at 52 West King Street, Shippensburg.

Get outside and birdwatch. Birding enthusiasts are invited to join the “SOAR” Bird Walks at Buttonwood Nature Center in Waynesboro, starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 3. Led by local birders Sharon and Larry Williams, these walks occur on the first and third Saturdays of the season, exploring various hiking trails in the area. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and may bring binoculars and identification books. The event is free and open to the public.

See the Jersey Boys. The Totem Pole Playhouse is set to host the acclaimed musical “Jersey Boys” from August 2 to August 18. This international phenomenon delves into the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, showcasing their unique sound, style, and the journey that transformed them from Jersey boys into American music icons. Audiences can expect an engaging experience that combines behind-the-scenes insights with the unforgettable hits of the legendary group.

Relax to some Bluegrass. The Clendenen Brothers Bluegrass will perform at the Concert in the Park, on Sunday, August 4, hosted by the Boonsboro Park Board. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in Shafer Park, located at 37 Park Drive, Boonsboro, MD. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Leashed dogs are welcome.
