STATE COLLEGE — Penn State’s Ag Progress Days, the largest outdoor agricultural exposition in Pennsylvania, is set to return from Tuesday, Aug. 13, through Thursday, Aug. 15, with a variety of exhibits and special children’s activities.
Some 45,000 people are expected to attend during the three days. The free event will be at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center in Ferguson Township, Centre County.
Hosted by Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences, the event offers an opportunity to explore a wide range of exhibits and activities at no cost, as both parking and admission are free.
The exposition will feature nearly 500 commercial and educational exhibits, showcasing the latest advancements in agricultural equipment and technology. Attendees will have the chance to participate in machinery demonstrations, guided research tours and various workshops. The event is expected to draw around 45,000 visitors.
A highlight of this year’s event is the College of Agricultural Sciences Exhibits Building, which will focus on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and biotechnology. These advancements are poised to transform the agricultural landscape, driving economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability. Faculty members and Penn State Extension educators will address topics including animal health, invasive species and soil health through displays and presentations.
For families and younger visitors, the event promises a variety of activities, including the 4-H Youth Building, a corn maze, kids’ tractor pulls and a butterfly house. The Pasto Agricultural Museum will offer hands-on exhibits that connect visitors to agricultural history, featuring artifacts from as early as 4000 B.C.
The trade show will provide a comprehensive look at the latest agricultural goods and services, with exhibitors covering categories such as field machinery, animal genetics and renewable energy. Meanwhile, the Equine Experience will offer demonstrations and clinics on horse care and health, including a special Wednesday Evening Extravaganza.
Ag Progress Days also emphasizes agricultural safety and health, with live demonstrations and expert consultations available throughout the event. Visitors can explore safety topics, receive free health screenings and learn about farm equipment visibility and emergency response techniques.
