HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Music, a 5K run/walk and children’s events were part of the annual Peach Festival, hosted by the Leitersburg Ruritan, Aug. 10-11.

The event celebrates the rich agricultural heritage of Washington County’s orchards. The festival drew hundreds of volunteers who worked to ensure that attendees had an enjoyable and safe experience.

This year, the festival featured a variety of attractions, including more than 110 craft vendors showcasing a wide array of products such as jewelry, pottery and homemade goods. Food lovers were treated to a diverse menu that included pit beef sandwiches, pulled pork and homemade peach cobbler.

A highlight of the festival was the 5K run/walk held on Sunday morning, honoring the memory of Jack Roberts, a significant figure in the festival’s history. Proceeds from the race contributed to a scholarship fund in his name, as well as supporting the Ruritan scholarship program.

In addition to the food and crafts, the festival offered free live music from local musicians, with performances taking place in the gazebo adjacent to the community center. Families enjoyed various activities, including pony rides, a moon bounce and a barrel train.

The Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Department conducted a boot donation drive, encouraging attendees to support their local firefighters while enjoying the festivities. The festival offered free parking, with complimentary golf cart rides to transport guests from parking areas to the vendor zone.

As a community-focused event, the Peach Festival raised funds to support local businesses, the fire department and various Ruritan community projects. The organizers expressed gratitude for the continued support of the community over the past 45 years, emphasizing the festival’s role in fostering local connections and celebrating the region’s agricultural roots.
