Wilson marks donation milestone at $8.9 million

CHAMBERSBURG — With donations topping $8.9 million, Wilson College in 2024 raised its fourth highest amount annually in school history, Wilson officials said. This was thanks to the generosity of the entire Wilson community, including alumnae, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the College.

Of the total, $1.1 million was dedicated to the annual Wilson Fund, officials noted. These gifts helped the college achieve a new milestone of five consecutive years of the Wilson Fund netting over $1 million annually.

This year, contributions supported the College’s We Rise campaign, a three-year endeavor to secure funding for Wilson’s future through support of scholarships, growth initiatives, faculty and staff and the annual Wilson Fund. The College achieved its original We Rise campaign goal of $16 million within two years, and recently announced the amount raised is currently over $18.7 million toward an increased goal of $20 million.

Philanthropic support for Wilson helps the College remain impactful and affordable. President Wesley R. Fugate said, “We have an ambitious strategic plan to help us remain a cutting-edge institution that began 155 years ago thanks to the generosity of our first benefactor, Sarah Wilson. The generosity and support we receive from our community now will ensure that Wilson continues to make a transformative difference in the lives of Wilson students at an affordable price.”

Angela Zimmann, vice president for institutional advancement, reflected on the many ways in which former Wilson students and friends of the College show their support for the future of the College. “Wilson alumnae, alumni and friends continue to amaze and inspire us with their seemingly endless generosity. In a challenging climate for higher education, this partnership makes all the difference, ensuring that Wilson College will continue to shine, making a positive impact on the lives of students today and for generations to come. There are no adequate words to express the depth of our gratitude. We will continue to strive for excellence in all we do, supported by all of you, our Wilson family. Small but mighty, We Rise!”
