Adams County Winery to host Harvest Festival

ORRTANNA – Adams County Winery will host its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The staff will entertain crowds with a grape stomp and t-shirt staining activity, and live music will be provided by returning artist Schizophonic on the Stray Cat Stage from 1-4 p.m. Featuring a guitar-driven sound supplemented with the saxophone, Schizophonic will entertain guests with its faithful reproductions of great rock songs from artists like The Who, Talking Heads, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin and more.

Wine releases for this day will include Apple Pie, released previously in 2023, and Vintage Roots, which was released privately to the Barrel Taster’s Club and now will be available for the public. Apple Pie is created from 100 percent local apples with cinnamon and vanilla flavors like the apple pie that Grandma used to make! Vintage Roots is a refreshing fruity wine with notes of pink grapefruit and pomegranate.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by the tasting room for samples of these wines and many of the other Adams County Winery varietals.

Adams County Winery recently won the 2024 Best Winery award in the Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia tristate area by Verstandig Media.

Visitors may enter the big red barn to purchase wine, wine flights, wine slushies and beer. The Terrace Bistro will be serving wood-fired pizzas and pretzels until 4 p.m.

Adams County Winery opened its doors in 1975 and is currently Pennsylvania’s fifth-oldest operating winery, as well as the Gettysburg area’s original winery. The winery sits on more than 75 acres of rolling hills and farmland while operating out of an 1860’s registered historic Pennsylvania bank barn. In 1988, Tears of Gettysburg was first bottled at the winery, and to this day, it remains one of its most popular wines, as well as one of the oldest continually made wines in Pennsylvania.
