Coyle Free Library marks 100 years

CHAMBERSBURG – The Coyle Free Library, a cherished cornerstone of the Chambersburg
community, is celebrating a significant milestone —100 years of service at its current location.
To mark the occasion, the library is launching a campaign to raise funds for the next
100 years by asking community members to contribute $100 each.

Over the past century, the Coyle Free Library has evolved into a modern community hub, where
tradition meets innovation. Patrons now enjoy state-of-the-art technology, including access to
computers, digital resources and wi-fi. In addition to its 90,000 available materials — ranging
from books and audiobooks to DVDs and periodicals — the library also offers private meeting
spaces for local groups, businesses and individuals seeking a quiet place to collaborate or study.

“Coyle Free Library has always been more than just a place to borrow books,” said Jill Yaich,
Coyle’s Library director. “It’s a place where learning and community connect. Our mission is to
create opportunities for personal discovery, growth and enjoyment, and we want to ensure that
we can continue to fulfill that mission for generations to come.”

The library’s $100 for 100 Years campaign invites the public to make a meaningful investment
in the future of this treasured institution. Every dollar raised will go toward the building
campaign that completed a $5.5 million renovation in 2017.

“We want to celebrate this century of service by ensuring we’re ready for the future,” said
Andrew Vickers, executive director for the Franklin County Library System. “By contributing
to this campaign, you’re not just supporting a building or a collection of books — you’re investing
in the community, in education and in the power of knowledge for the next 100 years.”

To contribute to the $100 for 100 Years campaign or to learn more about the Coyle Free Library,
people may visit https://discovery.fclspa.org or stop by the library at 102 North Main St. Donations are tax-deductible, and every contribution will help sustain the library’s mission for future generations.
