One by one, squads are dropping from the postseason until only the best teams remain.

This is certainly the case in LocalNews country, where several area programs saw their seasons come to an end last week. But there are two teams that have survived the chaos of the opening playoff rounds.

For the second-straight season, Greencastle-Antrim’s girls volleyball squad has advanced to the District 3-3A semifinal round and will be playing for a berth in the championship match on Thursday night.

North Hagerstown’s undefeated run on the boys soccer pitch came to an end with a 0-0 (2-0 PKs) loss to Urbana in the CMC Large School Championship last week, but the Hubs have regrouped and will be playing in the MPSSAA West Region I Final on Tuesday.

Chambersburg’s boys and girls cross county teams both turned in third-place finishes at last weekend’s District 3-3A Championships at Big Spring, and will both be advancing to the PIAA meet on Saturday. Greencastle-Antrim runner Joel Amstutz landed a 19th-place finish to qualify for states as an individual.

Staying on cross country, a pair of North Hagerstown runners shined brightly with wins at the Washington County Championships. Walker Mason won the boys race in 15:59, while Lauren Stine blasted off for victory in 17:57 in the girls race. The Hubs won team titles in both races.

Finally, golf season came to an end for our area’s last woman standing. Chambersburg’s Emily Rensch fired a 75-73-184 (4-over) to tie for seventh place at last week’s PIAA Class 3A Championships.

Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News coverage area performed last week:
